The Boat Jetty at the Quay side

We have been visiting this village for more than 20 years, and our 3 children grew up with annual holidays here. When they were very young we hardly moved from the village, as there was so much to keep us all entertained. You can walk everywhere, so the car can stay parked, for a more relaxing break.

As the family grew, we ventured further afield , to the spectacular Beaches of the South Hams, just across the River Dart, with the short Car Ferry trip at Dartmouth opening up this wonderful area.

Kingsbridge, Salcombe and Totnes are only short drives away.

The English Riviera, with the Towns of Torquay, Brixham and Paington is literally on the doorstep, and can be accessed by Bus from the Village, or by car in 10 minutes.

Overbecks House & Gardens (National Trust)

 The Church House Inn

 Eating & drinking:

The Church House Inn, an Ancient hostelry adjacent to the Church with its 800  year old Yew tree, serves excellent ales and snacks. There is the Tower Pub in the village centre, and a Restaurant on the Quayside.

Other shops include a Delicattessen and Post Office.

From the quay by the River Dart, where children can go crabbing, there are gentle strolls to be taken along the riverbank or through the old apple orchard and winding streets of the village where unexpected glimpses abound. There is always something to see and do in this lively community where everyone is made welcome.
